Luckily, many small business owners can say they are always on the go. They are working with employees or customers, going to a business meeting, or picking up supplies. For those who tend to not have this lifestyle, but instead sit at your computer, you may feel a tad stagnant.
While it is easy to get sucked into work to meet deadlines and keep motivated, you are forgetting that moving is crucial to producing good work. Remember, a body at rest tends to stay at rest, but a body in motion will stay in motion–so let’s get moving!
You may think “Well, what can I do when I am strapped for time?” Here are some suggestions:
If you are able to walk away, go for a walk around where you live or the office. You well get your legs moving, brain pumping and get some Vitamin D.
Push away your work chair or just find an open spot and start doing some mid-air squats and lunges. Do multiple reps of ten squats to tone up your legs and get moving while not having to leave the office.
Same concept as squats only lifting your legs up instead of squatting down. These will definitely help with balance, endurance, and release those much-needed endorphin's to keep your mind and body going.
Invest in two five pound weights and grab them while you sit. Lift your arms up on the side with reps of 20 for a great arm workout.
Invest in a cheap mat–mine was eight dollars–and take fifteen minutes out of your day. There are free workout videos on Youtube and Skillshare for a small workout to clear your mind and stretch your body.
A step further from yoga, but with more of a mental workout than physical. Meditation is key to a clear mind. Download Headspace, you will not be disappointed.
