Socially Dedicated has featured many different individuals focusing on different types of self-care. Whether it be self-care in fashion, health, or wellness, we wanted to go over it all.
But, what about a different kind of self-care that isn't a product or service, but more of an idea? Well, that is where Sola Onitiri of Let's Get Going comes in.
What started as Lifestoned Adventures, transformed into Let's Get Going in 2017. What is Let's Get Going about and how does it relate to freelancing self-care? Well, it is a fashion and lifestyle blog to help others feel unapologetically themselves and be "iconic," just as founder Onitiri lives.
What better way to live your life than the 100% real version of yourself? As freelancers, we may hold onto the idea that we need to present ourselves in an even more professional manner than our in-office counterparts because we ARE the business and without business, we have no money--plain and simple.
What happens though, when you live a life that is not authentic to yourself, whether it be in how you present yourself personality wise, fashion-wise, etc.? You start to wonder if your clients like you for you and it becomes exhausting. Let's Get Going is a place where people can go to feel confident in their skin and freelancers especially could use a reminder that being yourself may be the best way to also gaining clients who enjoy working with YOU and not what society thinks YOU should be.
Let's Get Going is more than just a blog that features fashion to make you feel more comfortable in your skin, but touches on lifestyle topics that many freelancers can relate to such as working through a quarter life crisis (especially for young freelancers) or how to deal with finances as a young person.
The idea is that Let's Get Going, and Onitiri, want others to feel less alone because these situations also are part of who YOU are and maybe they are temporary barriers, but that you should not be ashamed and instead own these situations as your own and work through them.
Let's Get Going can be a great spot for freelancers to practice self-care in reminding themselves that who they are, whether it be someone who wants to dye their hair pink or enjoy wine every night over Netflix, is something that makes us all unique. Trying too hard to be someone else will not yield great results--especially in freelancing and being your own business.
